We hope you all enjoyed a restful three day weekend!
Spalding: Students will be sent home with their homework packet on Tuesday night and then asked to spell their words three times each night. We will have a 20 word spelling test and a written phonogram quiz next Friday. Make sure you are reviewing phonograms 1-70 with your students at home.
Math: This week we continue addition and subtraction within 20, but will focus on solving word problems and using mental math to add and subtract. Continue to do XtraMath each night, but because this is a short week, your scholar is only expected to complete XtraMath 4 times this week.
Science: We began a new science unit on the water cycle on Friday of last week and will continue studying the water cycle this week. Make sure that your students are writing two COMPLETE sentences in their journal to get full credit for homework. We will have a quiz on Friday to review the material.
Reading: In class we are reading The Boxcar Children by Gertrude Chandler Warner. Please continue to read with your students for 20 minutes each night. You may let them read any book at home. As we continue developing their reading skills in the classroom it is so helpful to have this reinforced at home. If you are looking for good books to read at home, please email one of us and we can give you a list!
Your scholar brought home their yellow folder with graded work on Friday this week, please sign and return on Tuesday.
