We are looking forward to another week of learning and growing together!
Spalding: Students will be sent home with their homework packet on Monday night and then asked to spell their words three times each night. Students are given grades on their Spalding homework. They are graded on completion, markings, letter formation and neatness. Please help them to ensure they are marking their words, while also using proper letter formation. We will have a 30 word spelling test and a written phonogram quiz next Friday. Make sure you are reviewing phonograms 1-70 with your students at home.
Math: This week we will begin renaming ones and tens while adding. Your student is expected to complete XtraMath 5 times this week. XtraMath is developing math fact automaticity in your child. This skill is necessary for students to be able to solve simple and challenging math problems and helps to build their confidence in their own ability!
History: We will begin a new History unit this week. We will be studying the geography of North and South America. Make sure that your student is writing two COMPLETE sentences in their journal to get full credit for homework. We will have a quiz on Friday to review the material.
Reading: In class we will continue reading The Hundred Dresses written by Eleanor Estes. Please continue to read with your students for 20 minutes each night. You may let them read any book at home. As we continue developing their reading skills in the classroom it is so helpful to have this reinforced at home. If you are looking for good books to read at home, please email one of us and we can give you a list!
Poetry: Please help your child to work on memorizing the poem for recitation the week of September 24th.
Bed in Summer

Please sign and return yellow folders on Monday. You may keep all completed work at home.
