We hope you have all enjoyed your three day weekend. As we enter into two shorter weeks, there is a lot going on, so take a look at what’s happening below.
Spalding: Spalding homework will come home on Tuesday and should be completed every night using proper markings and with correct letter formation. There will be a test on Friday covering the 20 words students will learn this week. Make sure you continue reviewing phonograms 1-70 with your students at home.
Math: We will continue to cover multiplication and division this week. We will specifically focus on counting by 2s and 3s. It may be helpful to practice skip counting at home. Please continue to have your scholars complete Xtramath five times a week.
History: We are in middle of our Ancient Greece unit. This week we will focus on the early Greek cultures. Students will come home with their Blue journals and will need to complete the readings and answer the questions in three sentences.
Reading: A central theme of this second quarter will be studying Ancient Greece. We have begun reading the Iliad with the scholars and are enjoying the journey of reading this classic with them. Please continue to devote approximately 20 minutes to reading with your scholar for homework.
Poetry: We will begin our Poetry recitations this week. Please make sure your students are prepared to recite the following poem.
By Robert Louis Stevenson
The friendly cow all red and white,
I love with all my heart:
She gives me cream with all her might,
To eat with apple-tart.
She wanders lowing here and there,
And yet she cannot stray,
All in the pleasant open air,
The pleasant light of day;
And blown by all the winds that pass
And wet with all the showers,
She walks among the meadow grass
And eats the meadow flowers.
Have a wonderful week!
