March 18th-March 22nd

Hello Parents!

We hope you all enjoyed your spring break. We are excited to begin the fourth quarter and watch as your scholars continue to grow!

Take a look at this week.

Spalding: This week students will be learning 10 new words each day. They must complete them in cursive! They will be tested on these words on Friday.

Math: This week students will continue learning about adding and subtracting different amounts of money. They have a unit test on Friday! Students came home with a review sheet yesterday. Please complete this review sheet with your student over the next few days so they are well prepared for our test on Friday!

History: We are beginning our unit on the Civil War. This week students will be learning about Harriet Tubman and Abraham Lincoln.

Reading: We will continue The Magician’s Nephew by C.S. Lewis. So far, students have loved this story and we look forward to reading more of it this week.

Poetry: Our current poem “Windy Nights ” by Robert Louis Stevenson. Poetry recitations will take place next week, so please continue to help them memorize this poem at home!

Windy Nights

Robert Louis Stevenson

Whenever the moon and stars are set,
Whenever the wind is high,
All night long in the dark and wet,
A man goes riding by.
Late in the night when the fires are out,
Why does he gallop and gallop about?
Whenever the trees are crying aloud,
And ships are tossed at sea,
By, on the highway, low and loud,
By at the gallop goes he.
By at the gallop he goes, and then
By he comes back at the gallop again.
