We can’t believe it’s already May! This week begins our last four weeks of school and our last opportunity to finish preparing our second graders to enter third grade in August!
We really enjoyed exploring Desert Botanical Gardens last week and visiting the Butterfly Pavilion. It truly was an amazing experience to see so many beautiful butterflies up close. Thank you again to all our parent volunteers. We couldn’t have had such a successful trip without you.
Spalding: This week students will be learning 10 new words on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. They must complete them in cursive!
Math: This week we will continue our unit on charts and graphs. XtraMath is to be completed 5 days this week.
History: We are continuing our unit on Civil Rights this week and will be learning about Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King, Jr. and Cesar Chavez.
Reading: Last week, we began reading our final Literature book of the year, Charlotte’s Web. This book is one of our favorites in second grade and is a wonderful way to close out the year with a beautiful story of friendship.
Poetry: Our current poem is “Foreign Lands.” by Robert Louis Stevenson. Please help your students to work on memorizing at home. They will be reciting this poem for their concert on Monday, May 6th!
REMINDER: Our final 2nd grade concert is Monday, May 6th at 7PM. Please arrive at 6:30PM at King of Kings Church.
